Seedy Saturday (and Sunday) has its origins in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The first event took place in 1990 because a group of like-minded gardeners and interested individuals were seeking out sources of heritage seeds. Nowadays, there are hundreds of annual “Seedy” events all over Canada and other countries are joining in the fun!
This year, I am fortunate enough to be able to attend the Seedy Saturday event in Calgary, Alberta AND Seedy Sunday in Edmonton, Alberta! My co-author Janet Melrose and I will have a booth at both events and we’ll be selling The Guides for the Prairie Gardener series (including our two new titles, which will be published next week!) and my cookbook, The Little Prairie Book of Berries. We’ll have some seeds to share, as well! If you are in either of these cities, we’d love to see you – pop by in Calgary on March 25 (10 am start) or in Edmonton on March 26 (11 am start). If you’ve never been to a “Seedy” event, you’ll be amazed at the selection of seeds and other gardening products available – and the focus is on local and regional products, so you know that you’re getting something that is perfect for your garden. Most “Seedy” events also have educational presentations by garden experts (Calgary and Edmonton are no exception) and you’ll have the chance to visit with people who are just as passionate as you are about gardening!

Sheryl, this sounds like good fun. I hope you get a nice turnout at both events.
