february-calendar-600x400

Well, hello February! ย Did anyone happen to see where January went? ย Apparently I blinked at the wrong time and missed it.

While I haven’t actually been blogging over the past several weeks, and my commenting on others’ blogs has been sporadic horrible at best, I have managed to do just a bit of reading, and I’ve found a few entries that are practical and useful, delightfully inspiring, and/or just plain fun. ย I know that some of us run in the same blogging circles, so you may have come across these before, but for those of you who haven’t had the pleasure, or simply want a refresher, here are the links to a sample of my favourite blog reads of the past month or so:

Don’t Stint – Do Your Stint! (Love Those “Hands at Home”) – Kerry’s hugely inspiring post about time/project management is more than just food for thought. ย This is a strategy that could apply to so many aspects of life…and eliminate a bit of stress along the way.

Birding in the Winter (Prairie Birder) – All of the species of birds Charlotte mentions in this blog entry may not live in your part of the world, but her excellent tips about winter birding are extremely useful for those of us in cold climates.

Sauerkraut Apple Latkes (Cooking with Aunt Juju) – Judi’s recipe is divine! ย I made these as soon as I read about them and now you should go do the same.

Icefields Parkway (Adventure 69ยฐ North) – The photography on Inger and Tor’s blog is beyond spectacular. ย This particular entry offers a taste of some of the incredible scenery close to my home.

Grow Your Own Italian Seasoning (Completed) (The Crafty Cultivator) – I absolutely love Wendy’s idea and I’m keen to try it myself during the upcoming growing season.

My 2015 Photography Year in Review (Life on the Bike and Other Fab Things) – Treat yourself and check out Laurie’s favourite images of the past year – so gorgeous!

More to love:

Rocky Mountain professional photographer Paul Zizka’s Top 15 Images of 2015 is a must-see!

Another photographer from Calgary, Richard Gottardo, assembled over 6,500 still photos that he took of the northern lights into an amazing video, found here.

A good friend (and maker of the most insanely delicious barbecue sauces you’ll ever eat) sent me a link to Canadian blogger/writer Karen Bertelsen’s gardening resolutions of 2016. We both agreed these are realistic, achievable goals – what do you think?

Enjoy the start of the month!

Where did January go???? I can’t find it either! It’s all over in the blink of an eye. I do follow Laurie’s Life on a Bike but adding more to the pile that I’m behind on already will send me into a tailspin. I’ve had little time to read or write myself this month. Where does the time go?? Maybe I’m sitting on it. Have a wonderfilled February.

It was a complete whirlwind, wasn’t it? Love your thought that you might be sitting on time…perhaps we all are! ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope February slows down just a bit for some of us, so we can take a little breather….

Thanks for the shout out Sheryl and more importantly that you tried them and liked the latkes. They are super good and have some great flavor ๐Ÿ™‚ I agree with you about January – our part of the country has had only a few inches of snow so it just has not seemed like winter. I’m not complaining…

You’re so welcome – I love that recipe, it’s so easy and delicious. I agree with you, I’m loving the balmy weather this winter as well. ๐Ÿ™‚

January couldn’t leave fast enough for us! We hate the cold and should be rich so we can move where the weather is warmer. I enjoyed some of the blogs you listed as a change and quite informative. Thank you for those.

I read that you found some green grass near the house the other day, Shoko…maybe that means spring is on its way soon? Apparently the groundhog seems to think so. (Only a few more months to wait!). I’m not too keen on the cold, either – I don’t mind snow, though. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you for the mention! I can’t believe how quickly the month went by either, and this month will be worst with only 29 days. Eek!

I love your post about winter birding – such excellent information! Hopefully there will be a few quiet moments in February; we can all use a bit of a break, I think! ๐Ÿ™‚

Great post Sheryl! I really enjoyed reading all the posts you highlighted and the video of the Northern Lights is beautiful! My favourite has to be the gardening resolutions – sooo funny and it all rang so true!

Aren’t those gardening resolutions fantastic? She just cracks me up, she’s hilarious. But really very practical, too….

What a great collection of posts–I am honored that you included mine with these others! And, as an update, I’ve even added a couple more stints to my daily list and I swear it’s making a huge difference!!

    1. Sheryl @ Flowery Prose Avatar

I love your post about stints! I think it’s such a great way of approaching daily life and something we can all use to accomplish whatever tasks/goals we set out for ourselves.
