Emerging green in Strathcona Ravine, in southwest Calgary. ย A small (23 hectares) park in the middle of a residential area, the Ravine has its own springs (which you can wander alongside using a convenient boardwalk) and sections of restful, dense forest. ย Because of the shade and damp conditions, much of the growth consists of chokecherries, currants, willows, poplars, and cow parsnip. ย I imagine it is really cool and refreshing to walk here on a hot summer afternoon….

What a lovely path to wander. How you know the name of everything that grows there amazes me. Have a wonderful week.

Just beautiful. We have a park here with similar weather conditions. I found white cranberries in there. I picked a basket of them. OK…white cranberries are just immature cranberries and they needed sugar but were delicious on chicken and pork. I should have waited till they turned red.

It’s nice to be able to forage, isn’t it? I’m waiting on the saskatoons now…and then the chokecherries. ๐ I’ve never picked highbush or lowbush cranberries, but I’ve eaten jelly made from them. Yum!

Looks beautiful! I have only seen Calgary once, in August, long ago. I remember the evening lightning shows over the mountains.

Oh yes, we get some pretty wild thunderstorms in July and August! ๐ I love living here, it’s nice to be in the big city but have so many natural places to explore nearby.

That looks like quite the pathway into “oblivion”. Would be quite nice, I imagine, during a hot summer’s day.

It would be so cool and refreshing!

What a serene, soothing imagine…the path that leads to more beauty created by Mother Nature. Cheers, Johanna

What a nice spot! I had a walk in Weaselhead this weekend, it is also starting to look like spring! ๐

I haven’t walked in Weaselhead yet this spring…bet it’s lovely! The rain will really help to green things up.

This looks like a lovely path to walk down and how nice for the residents who live near enough to visit this park! Hope you have a good weekend Sheryl!

Thank you! Yes, it’s a great spot to go for an evening stroll or walk the dog or even for kids to ride bike. I love that there are so many green spaces like this in the city.
I hope your weekend has been lovely so far!

Yes thank-you Sheryl, it has been really fine. All over now sadly and as it’s very late I’m off to bed.
