March Update! The Guides for the Prairie Gardener.

Sooooooo much going on this month! My co-author Janet Melrose and I are absolutely thrilled to announce that the two newest titles in our series The Guides for the Prairie Gardener will be out and about in the world as of next week. Introducing The Prairie Gardener’s Go-To for Soil and The Prairie Gardener’s Go-To for Trees & Shrubs! Your local indie bookstores, favourite garden centres, and online retailers such as Amazon and Chapters-Indigo are being stocked with the books as I write this. A massive thank you to the entire team at our amazing publisher, TouchWood Editions!

We’re gearing up for a busy season of workshops and events – here is a bit of what we’re working on this month:

*Janet will be giving an online talk about all things related to seeds on Wednesday, March 9 (and I will be joining her for the Q&A segment)! This is part one of a series of six talks that Janet will be doing over the next few months. (I will pop in to help out, as well!). Here are all the registration details:

The workshop is free with purchase of a copy of The Prairie Gardener’s Go-To for Seeds, which you can buy in-person or online from Shelf Life Books in Calgary (https://store.shelflifebooks.ca/item/3xwN0QWPW-W-9CS0HxjVLQ) or Glass Bookshop in Edmonton (https://glassbookshop.com/item/3xwN0QWPW-W-9CS0HxjVLQ). Once your purchase has been made, you will receive an email with the registration link. Any questions, please email curtis@touchwoodeditions.com

*Janet will be guesting on two episodes of CBC Radio’s Homestretch program this month. She’ll be chatting about our brand new Soil and Trees & Shrubs books! I will post links to the sessions when they are aired.

*Janet and I will be attending our first in-person event together at Calgary’s Seedy Saturday on March 19! Head over to the Winston-Heights Mountview Community Association and say hello (and maybe pick up some books! In addition to our gardening books, I will be bringing along copies of The Little Prairie Book of Berries to sell). Take a look at the event website here.

*Janet and I are participating as virtual vendors for the Edmonton Seedy Sunday event on March 20. Check out their website and fantastic schedule of events here!

*Janet and Curtis and I are holding our Season Two Facebook Live episodes starting this month! This afternoon, we went live for the first time this year – head over to TouchWood Edition’s Facebook page to view the video, where we chat about wintersowing, what seeds to start in March, the crazy weather on the prairies, and a potential potting soil shortage! (WHAT?!). We’ll be holding our next episode on Friday, March 25 at noon (MST). Anyone on Facebook can view these videos by going to TouchWood’s page, and you can submit your questions for Janet and I in the comments!

*Our series of online presentations in conjunction with Shelf Life Books and Glass Bookshop will continue on Wednesday, March 30, when Janet talks about soil! (Once again, I will be there to help answer your gardening questions.) I’ll link to the registration information very soon!

*As well…a tease…we don’t have a date or time confirmed just yet (I will update this post as soon as I know) but Janet will be guesting on the Global News morning show sometime in the next couple of weeks!

*And in case you were wondering, we are RIGHT AT THIS VERY MOMENT (well, maybe not quite this very moment!) hard at work writing the next two books in the series! We aren’t divulging the topics just yet – very soon! – but we think you’ll be pleased!
