Sometimes it’s really easy just to sit, with a goofy, deeply satisfied grin on one’s face, and marvel at a flower. Especially when that flower belongs to an amaryllis.

Yes, indeed! What a beauty.
A little winter pick-me-up! 🙂
especially when there are so few flowers in our winter wonderland!
Yes, we definitely need the colour now! It will be so nice when this cold breaks – I think we’re on the warming trend tomorrow!
Beautiful
I so agree! 🙂

For sure! A delight for these cold winter days….
Someone gave me a bulb to start for Christmas. Your’s is so beautiful that I guess I’ll have to get mine going.
Something pretty and colourful to enjoy!
You can feel goofy with an amaryllis because it does all the work and is a goofy sort of flower. Nasturtiums are too. We tend to be more serious with flowers that we put more effort into, or some flowers that are more refined.
Yes, it’s pretty much a guaranteed bloom, but lovely nevertheless. 🙂
After I wrote that I realized that there are those who can get goofy with ANY flower. It is just a matter of perspective.
LOL count me in that camp. I think it may have something to do with our cold, snowy climate and the fact that I don’t have a greenhouse. No blooms for months!
Gorgeous! And I know just what you mean Sheryl! 🙂
You have so many beautiful cultivars – I so enjoyed seeing all your photos of them this winter! Absolutely lovely!
Someone gave me one of those once and it blossomed amazingly. I planted it in the garden, where it surprisingly survived winter and blossomed every year in June for about three years. They’re pretty darn cool plants!
I love that yours kept coming back for you in the garden – what a treat!
What an amazing colour! Just the flower we need in the middle of winter!
Yes, we all need a pick-me-up at this time of year, and this is ideal! 🙂
Can you imagine being that beautiful?! Wow . . .
Definitely a sight for sore eyes! 🙂
Mine, a fundraiser for the Huntington Society of Canada, is in bloom too. But you got the photo and so far, I have not. Beautiful.
I love that you got yours to help fundraise – so very thoughtful!
That is a gorgeous picture, Sheryl. Wow! I love the image of you smiling at the bloom.
“Goofy” is definitely the right description for my grin…. 😉
🙂
great shot!
Thanks so much! Flowers are decidedly less difficult to shoot than wildlife…I’m always in awe of your incredible photography!
thank you Sheryl but If you were in the boat with me you’d be getting shots very similar! It’s all about being in a place as beautiful as Tofino!
I really should be charging the tourist industry for my glowing reviews eh!
I really HAVE to get to Tofino some day…it’s been on my list of places to visit forever. And yes, you should be charging the tourist industry there for your wonderful promotion! 😉
ha ha! I’ll write up a invoice!
thanks Sheryl & you come on over & I’ll make sure you see the good stuff!
Love your amaryllis! You have inspired me to grow another one next winter.
Thanks so much! They are such a welcome, cheerful sight during the winter months!
