Tulips - get well bouquet - 6 March 2015

Lovely tulips from a beautiful basket I was gifted with.

Happy Friday! ย

What are your plans for this weekend? ย Tonight the community gardening group that I belong to is hosting a guest speaker for a presentation about soil health. ย Should be very interesting! ย I’ll try to take notes….

How did you get tulips so soon!?! I thought Calgary was just as wintery as here in Quebec. ๐Ÿ™‚

We’ve had barely any snow this winter – it’s been incredibly strange…but still no tulips in the garden (my crocuses are blooming, though!). These tulips were forced indoors. ๐Ÿ™‚

OH! lol. But that is strange for Calgary. Maybe we got your snow here in Quebec. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Soil health is something I’d really like to know more about! Tulips are gorgeous! They don’t last too long in our high heat (Southern California), but once in a while I just have to indulge! ๐Ÿ™‚ Happy Weekend.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Tulips are such a treat, aren’t they? Even though I can grow them here, the squirrels love them even more than I do, and so I don’t bother with them in the garden – just as cut flowers.

Pretty shot. I’m planting seeds indoors and pruning this weekend.

If taking notes is difficult, there is a dictaphone app for iPhone , you could just record the presentation . I use the app a fair bit.

Thanks for the suggestion re: the dictaphone app, that was a great idea. ๐Ÿ™‚

Did you get your pruning and seed sowing done? What types of seeds did you try this year?

Lovely tulip. We won’t see those for at least another month or more.

It will be awhile for us, too…but it’s so nice to wait and anticipate. ๐Ÿ™‚

I just adore that colour…and the light was really pretty the morning I took the photo. Loving that warm sunshine!

That’s interesting. I was reading today that the UN has declared this year International Year of Soils… Love your tulip picture!

    1. Sheryl @ Flowery Prose Avatar

Thanks, Cathy! Yes, the UN proclamation was part of the reason we selected that particular topic – also, we’re having trouble with the soil in our community garden right now and thought it might be useful to the members and the other attendees to learn how to resolve the issues. This will be our year to rejuvenate the soil in the community garden (well, get a healthy start, anyway…! ) ๐Ÿ™‚
