It’s been a very long time since I’ve been to the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary in Calgary, Alberta. The last time was a couple of years after the massive flood of 2013, and you could still see the effects of the river on the landscape: silt deposits and downed trees, partial closures on the pathways. Last Tuesday I had to run an errand to the Sanctuary, so a little stroll was in order. It snowed here this weekend but just a few days ago the fall colours were spectacular and you could feel the heat from the sun in the trees and in the soil.
