Drumheller, Alberta – Interpretive trail, Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology

My hubby and I recently spent a day with two awesome friends in the starkly beautiful Badlands of Drumheller. ย If you are planning a trip to Alberta or haven’t been to Drumheller in awhile, it is well worth however many kilometers you have to drive/swim/jetpack to get there. ย Make sure you at least walk part of the trail system, and tour the Midland coal mine site nearby. ย And don’t forget to spend a few hours in the incredible Tyrrell Museum!

It is! I hadn’t been there in some time, and it was great to spend a day wandering around.

It is quite incredible – so desert-like, with cacti and sage growing everywhere.

      I hadn’t thought of that! ๐Ÿ™‚

Plugging away at a very busy week, so happy for the bit of rain we’re getting (but shuddering at the thought of the weeds in the garden). Hope you’re having a sunshine-filled week so far!

I think the name is appropriate. Badlands of Drumheller. It has a certain feel to it. Great photo. I had no idea that cacti and sage would grow that far north. Learned something new today. Thank you.

It is a very fascinating landscape, that’s for sure! So harsh, dry, and unforgiving – but full of all kinds of plants (and some animals) we see few other places in the province.

Yes, the badlands there are amazing. I went in winter, so the coal mine was sadly closed. I especially loved Wayne and Dorothy, so forlorn, yet beautiful.

I always forget how much I love the area until I get back to see it again…in these places you can really feel history.

The badlands are fascinating. It was such a nice surprise when we visited Drumheller the first time. An exciting landscape after driving over the prairie for an hour:) Lovely capture!
