Managed to get one “winter” hike into the books a couple of weeks ago! This image was taken on the Foran Grade trail, in Kananaskis Country. It’s a fun foothills hike with no avalanche risk and you could add a trip up to Windy Point if you wanted to (we didn’t). At that time, the trail was covered in a skiff of fresh snow and scoured ice beneath it, but I imagine with our balmy weather over the past several days, it’s likely bare and dry now. I want to head back to this area in early July to take in the wildflowers – I could see the seed heads and dried husks of all kinds of wonderful plants while we were walking and I know it will be incredible to go up there when everything is in bloom.

Such a beautiful view. I always look forward to your hike photos as the area is so different from where I grew up and where I live now.
